Bloggy Giveaways Carnival

Photobucket

So, what a cool way to grow an online community! I've been spending all my free time today checking out all the great stuff posted, and entering a bunch! When I showed hubby, he thought that I should give something away, too!

So, I have for you a copy of Dave Ramsey's best selling book "The Total Money Makeover" that helped us pay off $10,000 in just under a year. We don't need the book anymore, as we now know what to do...so I'd love to pass it along!

Just for fun, please post your biggest financial challenge, or your best financial tip in your comment! I'd love to hear other people's challenges and triumphs!

So, please leave your email or blog so I can contact you, and please US mailing addresses only! I'll randomly select a winner on Sunday, February 3rd at noon.

And don't forget to check out all the other great stuff at Bloggy Giveaways!

Some of the biggest ways we save money: thrift stores (toys, all clothing, books) and the library.

I kid you not - we could drop thousands of dollars at B&N if we let ourselves. But we don't even go in there! :)

right now our biggest financial challenge is those pesky credit cards. it's not nearly as bad as a lot of people seem to have, but it's enough that, if we could get them paid off, we'd have a good amount of money we could put in savings every month.

Dave Ramsey is my hero!

We're in the process also, and I'd say our biggest problem is the little things that keep cropping up. Car repairs, broken appliances, etc. That emergency fund has really helped us keep it off the credit cards, though!

I'd love to win this book! Thanks!

My best tip?

A grocery Price book. I keep one for each of the 3 stores I shop. Walmart Super, BJ's Warehouse and Aldi's.

VERY handy.

I have heard so many wonderful things about Dave Ramsey and I would love to read his book. My best tip for staying out of debt is keeping a gratitude journal. Every day, I write down 5-10 things that I am thankful for in my life. Seeing a tangible list of blessings really helps curb my "gimmies".

I've been wanting to get this book! Our current financial challenge is owning our own business and all the ups and downs of that.

The best thing that helps me save money is to keep my receipts for everything. I enter it in a spreadsheet and see exactly how much money I spend in certain categories every month. The kids don't need near as much as I buy them and by laying it out like that, I can see it much more clearly

Our life was right on track. Had just leased a truck and was still on track, then suddenly we lost our only sorce of income.

We we able to use our savings to tend to all of our bills but the truck, so we sent it back.

After it was sold at an auction we are responsible for the leftover amount that they lender was not able to get.

Our hardest debt is that we are paying 14,000 plus for a truck that we were only able to drive for 4 months. With monthly calls to a law firm, explaining that we intend to pay the debt, making yet another payement, hearing it's just not large enough, being told we may be taken to court. Yeah, that is our hardest debt.

As it stands, we'll have the truck paid off at the end of 2010. Not bad for a 5 year lease that we can't drive.

This book will help, but only if I read it and get my hubby to read it as well.

My in-laws and several of my friends have recommended this book and I'd love to read it.

DH switched jobs 2 years ago, from a salaried position to a 100% commission position. It was the right move, and the perfect job for his personality, but it takes a while to build up in any commission-only job, and we're still digging out from that first lean year. We'll get there.

Thanks for the chance to win this book.

I've been hearing wonderful things about Dave Ramsey and would love to try his ideas.

Hi! I found your giveaway from the Bloggy Giveaways page. Dave Ramsey's book sounds very interesting and practical to me. At this point I am saving my money to purchase a house debt free. I am well on the way because of the lifestyle choices I have made. (I live at home with my parents for now even as a young, unmarried adult). However, I always have ways to improve and save more. :)

My biggest challenge is keeping my checkbook balanced. My biggest tip is to not go into debt in the first place. I didn't for my college education or first automobile and I am thankful everyday that I don't have loads of debt hanging over my head.

Thanks for offering the great book giveaway. God bless you and yours.

Hmm...biggest challenge. Well I guess I am trying to cut my grocery bill even more and save more money. My husband is trying to get his own business going in addition to his regular job, so if I could save more, I could help him have more $$ in our budget toward the big purchases.
I think I need to start using cash only for things--not debit cards, not credit cards (even though we pay them off each month, etc).
Thanks for the chance to win! cherylannhackett@yahoo.com

I have heard really great things about Dave Ramsey's book. I would love to be entered in your drawing.

My greatest financial challenge would be not keeping careful track of how much we spend on things each month. If we need something or oftentimes even want something, we just pick it up, with little regard to budget (within reason of course). I would like to be more accountable with our money and at least know a ballpark amount of what we are spending each month.

My biggest financial challenge right now is the upcoming wedding. Just when our savings account was looking nice too :)

Biggest challenge - getting hubby motivated! LOL
Financial tip - we pay on our credit card every week instead of once a month, so no balance carried over. Use it more like a debit card (only used for purchases you have the money for, then come home and transfer the money to it!)
Oh and congrats on paying your debt off! Have you called Dave's radio show to yell?

I was almost 50 before my kids were grown and done with school and I thought I could finally afford to start saving for retirement. What a huge mistake that was! But by cutting corners, putting money aside REGULARLY, I am on track at 58. I can never look forward to an extravagant retirement with travel and luxury, but I think I will be able to work long enough to retire with enough of a nest egg to support myself.
